Are citizens of the United States getting tired of their govt. using "crises" as "opportunity" for power grabs?

Not like this is new, Gold. For example, the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794. The Federal government, at the urging of Alexander Hamilton, imposed a tax on whiskey distillers. The tax favored large distillers, who paid a flat rate, vs. small distillers, who paid by the barrel. Our first president, the belove George Washington, was one of those large distillers who benefited from the structure of the tax. The tax was supposedly created to raise money to pay off the Revolutionary War debt, but it was justified at the time as a tax on evil, a clic example of the "sin tax" we still have on alcohol and tobacco. Grain farmers in Pennsylvania who suffered from the lost market created by the tax started a series of violent protests. Washington called up and organized the armed state militias of PA and VA under federal command, including Washington himself, to stop the protests, imposing martial law on the region. So, we can all think this gov't tendency is new, to use crisis as a power grab. We can blame it on Bush, blame it on Obama. But even our founding fathers were no less guilty. Political power corrupts. The result of the martial law in 1794? No one was hurt, a few fines were levied, the Federalists lost power over time to the Democrat-Republicans, and the tax was repealed a few years later under the first Democratic president, Thomas Jefferson. That's why people eligible to vote need to pay attention and vote the s out of office when **** goes down that we don't like. It's not like something in human nature is suddenly going to change, and politicians aren't going to use crisis to grab power. But the good news is the power of the vote is still with the people and it works. So don't complain. Just pay attention and vote.

Holiday pay is usually based on so many days per week. however when someone is part-time that may create a problem. In actuality holiday pay is ONE weeks holiday - the amount of money being paid equal the weekly average of the last 13 weeks pay.

Why did Her Majesty forsake Solomon Islands?

I've been to Solomon Islands. While I was on the plane, I was expecting to see a place like paradise, because of it's location in the Pacific Ocean. But to my dismay, Honiara, the capital city is very dirty, garbage and spit on the walls that stain red is what I saw. Very dusty and most roads are not paved. Everything is very expensive and I did not see a single store which is not owned by Chinese. Local people work for them as shop istants. No decent restaurant in Honiara just one hotel with roof made of coconut leaves where tourists stay has overpriced hamburger and coffee. It seems to me Her Majesty was not interested to improve the lives of the Solomon Islanders

Took her to Santa Barbra, picked off flowers for her as we were walking, paid for a romantic dinner at an Italian restaurant there. When we came back, we cuddled, kissed, n made out. After that date, she started getting "busier." Basically, we haven't really hung out much since then only a couple times and it felt pretty casual like she thought of me as a friend. My friend told her no we're just friends and she's bi. And then M, with her big f*cking mouth decides to make it known to everyone and blurts it out. Esp. to J! And she especially makes it clear that my friend is and whispers to J that makes her look at me weird. During this whole time, I can see J coming closer to me. Like she was watching my interactions with my friend. Possibly jealous. Next thing I know, I see J, the girl I liked and cared for, flirting with multiple people. Now flirting isn't really hurting, so I kept my cool. I got angry when M AND J STARTED MAKING OUT LESS THAN 5 FEET AWAY FROM ME, FLAUNTING IT IN FRONT OF MY FACE. I WAS INCREDIBLY ANGRY. SO MUCH, I WANTED TO PUNCH BOTH OF THEM HARD IN THE FACE. But I have self-control, and I'm a cly person, so I didn't. But what should I do now? Let it go, right, obviously. But should I confront J today and be like "hey i liked you. We went out on dates and stuff and I showed you care an affection. You made out with M yesterday and flaunted it in front of my face. Is time travel possible ..like a Dolorean ?

I'm not sure, but I'll tell you this-the government has technology that's at least 50 years ahead of the general public, so if time travel is possible, then the government would know the answer to that. I've heard scientists say that it is, and maybe it is, but I doubt that we'll be able to time travel in our lifetime, if it's possible.

There are obviously true atheists.
