Could television networks show uncensored TV without any legal penalty if they wanted too?

So say some show on TV has a swear in it or something suggestive can a TV network allow it to be uncensored if they wanted too without having some fine or legal problem? I do know about the secret stash on comedy central really late at night but what about a show during any time of day morning,afternoon or prime time?
