Chemistry - why HNo3 act is only oxidizing agent while HNo2as reducing & oxidising agent?

HNO3 is nitric acid and it is a stable acid and the Hydrogen is strongly bonded. HNO2 is nitrous acid and it is an unstable acid. It can give up its Hydrogen more easily as it is loosely bound to the molecule. So nitrous acid can also act as a reducing agent by giving up its Hydrogen.
