How can i touching my toes longer?

I used to hardly be able to reach past my shins when trying to touch my toes, then i started trying every single day and getting farther and farther... Now i can touch em but only for like 3 seconds max, and then my hamstrings just hurt so much and i have to stop stretching... how can i hold it there longer?
